 LustSickPuppy is best described as a rapper/producer wielding maniacal electronics, but that doesn’t get the full point across. Their new album Carousel From Hell adds punk energy to electronic beats with even more adrenaline. While theirdistorted shouts sit atop an atonal frenzy and fist-pumping bass, LustSickPuppy exudes the mentality of punk rockers who cherish movement and club energy, resulting in a truly forward-thinking musical experience. Naturally defying categorization, Brooklyn native Tommy Hayes embodies the perseverance and limitlessness of Black artists unafraid of their own power. Since 2019, Hayes has succeeded at transforming inner turmoil into incomparable and uncompromising sound. Considering the aphorism, “art is supposed to comfort the disturbed and disturb the comfortable,” LustSickPuppy is a natural response to our current societal condition.
