Oakland, CA foursome Fake Fruit, fronted by Hannah "Ham" D’Amato, made a splash with their self-titled debut amidst the pandemic in 2021 via Rocks in Your Head Records. With Alex Post on lead guitar, Miles MacDiarmid on drums, and Dylan Allard on bass the band is “A whirlwind of biting critique, nervy post-punk guitars, and absurdist humor.” Pitchfork describes them as “spirited punk primitivism with two-minute art-rock tracks—punchy, melodic songs united by nervy guitars and cutting takedowns of modern frustrations.” Despite the global pandemic’s impact on live music, Fake Fruit have still managed to turn heads, touring the U.S. and overseas playing shows with Alvvays, Dry Cleaning, Amyl and the Sniffers, The Descendants, Cate Le Bon etc. and earning accolades from the likes of Bandcamp, Pitchfork, Brooklyn Vegan, Post-Trash, and more. With funny but biting lyrics, blistering guitars, and a powerhouse rhythm section you’ll feel in on whatever joke they happen to be telling. https://www.instagram.com/fakefruitband/

Los Angeles band Dummy refuses to slow down. After releasing two cassette EP’s in 2020 (on Popwig and Born Yesterday respectively), Dummy’s debut full-length album arrives via Chicago’s Trouble in Mind Records. Employing pummeling guitars and celestial ambience within the same breath, the band folds a myriad of reference points into their drone-pop style. Influence from ‘60s melodicism and ‘90s UK noise pop can be found woven in with inspiration from spiritual jazz, Japanese new age, and Italian minimalism. https://notdummy.bandcamp.com/

Rickshaw Stop is turning 20 this Jan 2024! In order to celebrate, we’ve asked a bunch of our favorite bands and DJs to come on back and play again for you. (Hell, we’ve even asked some people who’ve never played because why the hell not?!) This party is going to go on all month and more. We hope you’ll come out and join us in celebrating what a long, wild ride it’s been.
