ABOUT:
In early 2003, Petty Theft was born as a classic rock cover band, performing all around the San Francisco Bay Area to great responses and growing audiences. It became clear that this project should focus on the great music of Tom Petty and the Heartbreakers and quickly progressed to regular touring in and out of the Bay Area and out of California. Petty Theft has the same lineup of six musicians as the legendary Heartbreakers.
Steve Ferrone, drummer for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers has performed with Petty Theft on three separate occasions:
- On November 25, 2016 at Sweetwater Music Hall Petty Theft opened for The Kenneth Brian Band which features Steve Ferrone, drummer for Tom Petty and The Heartbreakers. Steve Ferrone surprised the audience and sat in with Petty Theft during their opening set on the final three songs.
- On May 28, 2018 at a Memorial Day event in Mill Valley, California, Steve Ferrone joined on the final four songs of Petty Theft’s set, “I Won’t Back Down”, “Runnin’ Down A Dream”, “Don’t Come Around Here No More” and “It’s Good To Be King”. Kenneth Brian of The Kenneth Brian Band joining on “It’s Good To Be King” with Steve Ferrone and Petty Theft
- On October 20, 2018 at Petty Theft’s annual Tom Petty Birthday Celebration show at the Cornerstone in Berkeley, California, Steve Ferrone joined on six songs, “You Wreck Me”, “Refugee”, “I Won’t Back Down”, “Runnin’ Down A Dream”, “Don’t Come Around Here No More” and “It’s Good To Be King”. Kenneth Brian of The Kenneth Brian Band joining on “It’s Good To Be King”
Petty Theft performs around sixty shows per year throughout the United States.
